Yes, It's Witchcraft!

 Again...long read warning. Sorry...I do try to keep things brief but the Holy Spirit won't always let me.

As a Pastor, one of my assignments and responsibilities is to correct and guide, always in love. I was recently asked a sincere question which prompted this answer.
There are only two powers in the universe. God and Satan. If it is not of God, it is of Satan.
The little "harmless" things you see on facebook are not so harmless. They are superstition at best and at worst, witchcraft.
October will be upon us before we can blink, bringing with it a whole host of things that dabble in the dark side.
If you are under my spiritual influence, in any way, I admonish to stop playing with that mess! It may seem like harmless fun but it has the potential to open portals into your life; portals that demons can slip through.
Here's some examples of what I am referring to:
On facebook:
*Insert "amen" and you will be blessed (mixing superstition with faith) "A double minded man is unstable in all his ways". (James 1) God does not need for you to "insert amen" to bless you. Deuteronomy 28 tells us all we need to know to be blessed.
*Touch a color to see what kind of energy you put off. (New Age) The only thing you should be "putting off" is the joy of Jesus!
*The Zodiac (witchcraft) The Word of God is all you need for direction.
Off facebook:
*Palm readers
*Again, the Zodiac
*Tarot card readers
* Quija boards
*Good luck charms or objects
****all of these are witchcraft
I am not even going to go into the things many Christians are watching on TV, playing, listening to, reading or looking at. I will save that for another time except to say this. The scripture instructs us to "guard our hearts and minds". (Proverbs 4)
(Ephesians 6) Put on the whole armor of the Lord, consecrate your home, your vehicles and your workplace and don't let that mess in!
1) So why are these things so magnetic? Why are people so drawn to them? There are lots of reasons:
*Boredom
*Feeling bad about yourself
*Needing a pick-me-up
*Needing answers
*Depression/Anxiety
*Worried about the future
2) Why are these things wrong? Because you are getting your confidence, joy, answers, peace and direction from something other than the Word of God! And it will not last! Why? Because Satan does not want you joyful and peaceful. His task is to confuse you.
While God can speak in any way and through any thing, He only speaks as it lines up with His Word. His Word very plainly denounces these things as evil. And even if it is "only pretend", His Word tells us to "abstain from the very appearance of evil". (1st Thessalonians 5) In other words, not to even look like evil.
Every mention of these things in the Bible calls them wicked, evil and an abomination. So why even get close to them?
As Halloween approaches...do I even need to go into why Christians should not participate in a holiday which carries for its main mascots and logos witches, goblins (demons), ghosts (demons) and black cats (superstition)? Witches, ghosts and goblins are not cute. They are evil. Can you not see that Satan's most successful ploy has been making evil seem cute, fun and harmless?
I need to make a confession. Some months past I was subbing. The grade I was in was being shown a movie. I thought about excusing myself explaining that I could not watch it. Out of fear of coming across as judgmental or holier-than-thou, I didn't say anything. I just watched it.
It was hilarious and so cute! However, the plot was witchcraft and my soul was pricked by the Holy Spirit. But the more I watched and laughed, the more I shut out that still, small voice. And, sadly, He left me alone.
I even begin recommending the movie to others because "I know it's about witchcraft but it is so cute and funny!"
One day, not long after, the Holy Spirit spoke. He said, "What are you doing? Not only have you watched something I have instructed you not to watch, but you were totally absorbed by it and are now justifying your actions and attempting to get others to come into agreement with you".
My heart broke. Not just because I had watched a hell inspired movie but also because I had grieved my precious friend, the Holy Spirit.
Dear ones, if you are struggling with fear, depression, anxiety, worry, pornography, lack of initiative, strive in your home, addictions or anything else...the first thing to ask is "what have I let in and given place to?" This is always the first question I ask in any counseling session.
When in doubt, just don't mess with it.

See what your future holds
Magic

Halloween Part 1

I don't mind telling you that I have lost friends, and even church members, due to my stand on this topic. It is not my desire to offend anyone. However, I will not stand before people. I will stand before God. I would rather offend people than grieve the Holy Spirit and risk my own soul, as well as the souls of those under my influence, out of fear of speaking the truth. With halloween approaching, I feel compelled of the Holy Spirit to address the question I am asked, and sometimes challenged with, every year. Why do I firmly believe, and teach, that The Church and born-again believers should have NOTHING to do with halloween? And anything that even hints at the occult?
