Messes

In April we had 2 large trees come down during a storm. Our truck was damaged but not the house. Praise God.

The damage was so small in comparison to what others have gone through and to what it could have been.

The day after the storm, as I looked at my yard, I thought the mess would never be cleaned up. And it got worse before it got better.

After the trees were cut up and removed we still had a car size root ball and a pile of limbs bigger than a large pickup. Not to mention the swimming pool size hole in the front yard!

Through the kindness and hard work of several Men of God these things were eventually taken care of.

But then...we had a front yard of dirt and a literal dirt road through the back yard. The rains came and our yard became nothing but muck and mire. You see, we were still having to deal with the scars from the damage.

Seed was sown and straw was put down. More rain. And then...sunshine.

The limbs were finally hauled off on June 10. Two months after the storm.

Today, we have grass growing and, unless you knew what had been the process, you would not be able to see where the mess had been.

As I was walking in the yard a few days ago the Holy Spirit spoke this to me.

We all have messes in our lives. Everyone's mess is different. Some messes are bigger than other messes.

Most messes we bring on ourself. Some messes occur because we ignore warning signs. After the largest tree came down we saw that it was dead on the inside.

There are times, however, when our messes come without warning and through no fault of our own.

In any case, God is able to clean up your mess if you will be patient and willing to go through the process.

The storm came...the damage seemed daunting...the clean up began...it got worse before it got better...the clean up was completed...new life began!

Now, to address the new grass. We are protecting it! We are not mowing it, trying not to walk on it and not allowing the dog to make potties on it.

The same goes for our brothers and sisters recovering from a storm. They are fragile. We must not crush them with words of doubt or criticism.

Be encouraged today! God sees your mess. He allowed it to occur. He is using it to prune you. The storm caused the tree to fall in a way that protected us from major damage later on down the road.

And, if we had not had this storm I would not be writing these words! It's not always about you. Sometimes your storm comes so that you can help others. How we react to the messes in our lives speaks much louder than living a life with no messes!

Your storm is not intended to harm you but to blow you back on course!

TRUST THE PROCESS!!!

Be blessed!

Pastor Jennifer
