Are you expecting God to bless you when you are not blessing God? Are you expecting reward when you haven't obeyed? Are you asking for healing when you are or aren't doing the thing or things you need to do? Are you expecting a financial miracle when you haven't given back to God what belongs to God? Are you asking Him to forgive you while you are holding a grudge? Are you grumpy towards God but expecting Him to smile on you? Are you asking for freedom and deliverance while clutching in your fist the thing that has you bound and/or addicted? God always rewards faithfulness! God always rewards effort! He always rewards a giving, gracious spirit. God never rewards laziness, selfishness, self-destruction or unforgiveness. When we come to God with opened heart and hands He can fill our lives with blessing. But a closed, hard or rebellious heart and tight fist is something God turns from in great sorrow. You have to position yourself for blessing! Be blessed! Pastor Jennifer

Cows

Image
This morning, as is my usual habit, I was sitting on the deck having my devotion time. Adjacent to the parsonage property is a large pasture; home to several cows.  One of the mother cows was calling for her baby, loudly yet calmly. The baby, in some distress, was calling back to her. This went on for several minutes. Eventually, mama and baby were reunited and the bellowing stopped. So it is with us and Jesus. When we wander away from Him we become distressed. However, when we call out to Him, He will always answer and He will always find us. How much easier life would be if we just didn't wander away to begin with. But like that little calf, we seem to think that there's something better on the other side of the pasture. Thank God, in His great mercy and love, He always makes the extra effort to come after us. Be blessed! Pastor Jennifer

Puzzle

Image
Last evening I completed a 1000 piece puzzle. And (sigh) there was a piece missing. However, when I walked into the other room, there it lay having been chewed by my little doggie (double sigh). I picked it up, gently pushed it back into shape and put it in the puzzle. This morning, as I looked at the completed puzzle, the Lord spoke to my heart. The piece is still there and still usuable. It's scarred up a little but it can still do its part. The puzzle is still "complete" albeit not as perfect as I would like it to be. The Kingdom of God can be likened to a puzzle. Every born-again believer has a part and a role that is uniquely theirs. That person may be scarred, battered and bruised but in the Master puzzle completer's hands they can be pressed back into shape and be the missing piece in the puzzle. The damaged piece is weak. But with a little bit of tape it can be "connected" to the stronger pieces around it. Don't disregard the weaker, damaged piec...

Harmony

Image
In Romans 15:5 Paul instructed the Church to "live in harmony". I looked at several translation and at the original Greek text. NIV...have the same attitude of mind KJV and NKJV ...be likeminded towards one another NLT...live in harmony Greek...have an understanding I find it interesting that Paul did not tell us to live in "unison" but rather "harmony"; being "likeminded". In music, to sing in "unison" means to all sing THE SAME NOTE. However, to sing in "harmony" means each "part" sings its own note within a chord. When these notes are blended they make a beautiful sound. The more parts being sung, the fuller the sound. As long as everyone is singing on key (not singing flat or sharp) perfect harmony is produced. Furthermore, when singing in "harmony" the singer must be mindful of the other singers if the parts are to blend. In the past, when I have directed or sung in choirs, there were m...
